Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken pieces
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon pilau masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cups chicken broth or water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak for 15 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat oil and sauté onions until golden brown.
- Add garlic, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, and pilau masala. Stir for 1 minute.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until browned.
- Pour in broth, add salt, and bring to a boil.
- Drain rice and add to the pot. Stir gently.
- Cover and simmer on low heat until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff rice with a fork and serve hot.
Tips
For extra flavor: Toast the spices before adding the chicken. You can also garnish with fresh coriander or fried onions.
